pear + chai bread pudding

With spicy chai flavors and juicy pear, this dish is a great way to use up your stale bread. It is vegan, gluten-free friendly, and full of nutrients. Add a caramel drizzle for a little extra sweetness!

  • 4 cups cubed stale bread (gluten-free if needed)
  • 2 pears, chopped
  • 2 Svelte® Spiced Chai Protein Shakes
  • ½ cup coconut sugar
  • 3 tablespoons flaxseed meal

Caramel Drizzle

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup coconut sugar
  • ½ cup Svelte® Chocolate Protein Shake (or flavor of choice)
  • Pinch of sea salt


  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Chop stale bread into chunks. If using fresh bread, lightly toast to dry it out.
  3. Add bread and chopped pear together in a bowl and set aside.
  4. In a blender mix Svelte®, sugar, and flaxseed until well blended.
  5. Pour liquid mixture over bread and pear. Stir to combine.
  6. Transfer ingredients to baking dish(es) and place in the oven.
  7. Bake for 30-60 minutes, depending on the size of your dish(es).
  8. To make CARAMEL DRIZZLE: Add coconut sugar and water to a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until mixture comes to a boil. Add Svelte®  to the mixture while stirring. Turn down the heat and let mixture simmer until it reaches the desired consistency, stirring frequently (keep in mind sauce will thicken slightly upon cooling). This may take 20-25 minutes. Remove from heat, add sea salt, and stir.
